Wash your lingerie with cold water.
The fabric delicate and can’t withstand rigorous machine wash like regular tops and trousers. It needs gentle care. So, always hand wash your lingerie after every use except for silk as it needs dry cleaning. Regular wash is required because the salt from the sweat can build up in the fabric and damage its elasticity. Washing with cold water not only retains its life but prevents microfibre shedding.
Hand wash your lingerie
We do not recommend machine washing, especially with delicate (satins and lace). Try and hand wash your intimates as often as you can. Machine wash can damage the underwire and laces. If hand washing is not an option, opt for the gentlest setting on your washing machine.
Separate dark colours from light colours.
Lingerie usually never leaves colours but when washing for the first time, it’s better to separate loads. Until you’re completely sure that it doesn’t leave colours, separate the loads and laundry bags.
It’s ideal to separate delicates and whites from dark colours and wash them separately to prevent colour transfer. Do not soak it in water for too long unless you’re trying to get some stains out.
Turn your lingerie inside out while washing.
This is a very important point that shouldn’t be missed or skipped. Turning out garments prevents odour retention and colour bleeding. Many detergents can melt fibres or make fabrics shrink. Turning parts inside out ensure that clothes will be protected from possible wear.
Store your lingerie separately
Don’t just dump in the wardrobe. It should be stored separately from the rest of your clothes. This helps in keeping them in shape for a longer period. Try to have separate drawers for bras and panties. Also, never fold them while storing them. Folding distorts their shape.
Use a mild detergent
As delicate as in fabric is, it should be washed with mild detergents or detergents specific for delicate clothes. Using bleach or hard detergents can damage the fabric and underwire of the bra. Moreover, it can leave white patches on panties (sometimes) and can even fade the fabric colour.
Don’t squeeze your lingerie.
After washing your lingerie, leave them flat for drying. Do not squeeze or twist your bras. Twisting rigorously can ruin the shape of cups, loosen elasticity, and even bend the wire of underwire bras.
Don’t bleach your lingerie.
Though bleach disinfects clothes, its prolonged use can deteriorate fibres and the quality of fabric. It leaves yellow stains on panties. In the long run, bleach can ruin coloured.
Don’t hang your lingerie with clips while drying.
When you hang bras with clips, elastic can stretch. This makes bra straps lose and the bra gets ill-fitted. Hence, always leave your bras out flat to dry.
Don’t put lingerie in machine dryers.
Drying your lingerie in the machine dryer can be the first step in damaging its fabric. It can mould bras out of shape and wear out the lace. Even if you separate your load, drying them is simply damaging your delicates. Another thing to avoid is ironing them. Simply let them dry in the air under the shade. This retains colours for a long and ensures that it smells fresh.
Don’t fold your lingerie.
Have a separate compartment for your bras and panties. Store the flat, especially bras. Folding distorts the underwire and its shape. Hanging and folding should be avoided to keep bras in shape for long periods.
